Urban Barn x Kichael Bonofiglio
For as long as she can remember, Kichael Bonofiglio has been painting.
“I had the privilege of having a really supportive family who encouraged me to paint and explore my creativity,” says Kichael. “I was able to teach myself this craft, explore different styles and push myself.”
In 2019, Kichael said goodbye to her day job and made the leap to pursue her art full-time.
“It was a huge decision, but I knew my work would only do as well as the energy I put into it,” she explains. “It has been three years now since I made that leap, and I don’t regret a thing.”
As an abstract artist, Kichael aims to convey an emotion with each piece, pulling inspiration from the people, objects, and natural environment around her.
Having spent much of her life in the tropical islands of South America, nature is a big part of what inspires her, and who she is.
“I am often inspired by the forgotten things in nature - the naturally occurring processes like debris, rust, sediment,” says Kichael. “I love to work with earth-tones as well. In many of my pieces, you will see a burnt sienna colour, one of my favourites.”
In her exclusive capsule collection with Urban Barn, Kichael explores a variety of fresh colour palettes for the modern home with six nature-inspired pieces.
“My goal with my artwork is to help spaces feel complete,” says Kichael. “There’s something in this capsule collection for everyone!”
Exclusive new collection
Though we know an artist never likes to play favourites, we challenged Kichael to share the piece from the capsule collection that speaks to her the most.
“If I must, I love Bramble,” she smiles. “It’s one of the first ones I created in this collection. I was inspired by a seascape and fallen debris. I enjoyed bringing in these organic lines throughout the piece.”
For those who are on the subtle side of design, Kichael recommends Bare. And for the bold? Bay.
