Tell us a little bit about yourself and your space.
I'm a mom to three young girls and married to the man they call dad; the boy I met in high school who is now a second-generation Toronto firefighter. I spent fifteen years working in the broadcast industry and am currently working as broadcast media relations specialist in the tourism industry. We moved into our home in 2012 and immediately renovated this space by taking down walls and opening it right up. It truly is the hub of our home. It's an open room consisting of a kitchen, dining room and living room and basically connects to all the other spaces in our home; the hallway to the girls' bedrooms, the stairwell to the upstairs family room and the stairwell to our foyer and basement living areas. The furniture in this room was fifteen years old and was looking tired. In an attempt to update the space SLIGHTLY, we visited Urban Barn Barrie to find a new coffee table, which also led to the purchase of tuck table. My husband, who is apparently quite interested in interior decorating, insisted we purchase two accent chairs to match our new look. This led the purchase of our new island chairs, pillows, a throw, and new coffee table accents. The living room refresh became our Christmas gift to each other and we absolutely love it.
How would you describe your decorating style?
I have to admit our decorating style has changed multiple times over the years. Most recently, we have landed on a combination of urban and modern rustic. I'm also drawn to Scandinavian design and have been trying to incorporate some of these elements into our spaces.
Tell us about your favourite Urban Barn piece and why you love it.
My favourite Urban Barn piece is the Orsen Coffee Table. The combination of rustic wood and black iron really anchors and sets the tone for our space. It ultimately led to the redesign of our whole room and I couldn't be happier with it.
