Tell us a little bit about yourself and your space.
The Appleby is now in our 7th year in business. I believe great design goes beyond aesthetics, it should reflect the way my clients live, work and feel. Whether it’s a cozy home retreat or a thoughtfully designed workspace, my goal is to blend function, beauty and lifestyle. Always with a warm, collaborative approach, I specialize in both residential and commercial spaces that feel deeply personal and effortlessly refined.
The space in the picture is from a project back in 2022 – my lovely clients are a family of 5 with 3 children in university and both newly retired and were looking to update the main floor of their home. The goal was to create an updated and more efficient floorplan with an open concept living space. With the couple being newly retired, the functionality of their bungalow was a top priority as they would be spending more time at home. The design of the renovation was created and executed by Melissa Kanaan from The Appleby and supported the clients’ goals of an open concept living space and a well thought out floor plan. The design is a warm, welcoming space with a fresh look and feel.
How would you describe your decorating style?
Rooted in my upbringing in a century farmhouse in rural Ontario, I have an innate appreciation for blending the old with the new….infusing each project with character, warmth, and a story uniquely its own
Tell us about your favourite Urban Barn piece and why you love it
Great question…there’s too many to count! Lol..Hmm I would say the Bosco Armchair in Rya Olive is on my wish list and I think I’ve purchased the Russo gallery frames more times than I can count!
