The only thing better than replacing old furniture with something new is knowing
that your used-but-still-useful sofa, chair or table can go to a household in need.
That’s what the Give & Take program is all about.

Urban Barn will not only drop off your fabulous new furniture, we’ll also take
the piece you’re replacing and donate it to Habitat for Humanity. When it’s time to
make your place like new, give your old furniture a second chance
to make someone else’s home like new.



When you use our Give & Take program, we make sure your much-loved sofa, dining table, etc. does not end up abandoned on the side of the road. Once it leaves your home, we take it back to our warehouse where we carefully inspect the item to determine its condition. Eligible items are transported to Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore for resell. At the ReStore, your old favourite is given a second chance at becoming someone’s new love. All proceeds from Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore program go directly into rebuilding homes around the community. So not only are you making someone else’s home like new, you’re also helping make someone’s new home!

Here at Urban Barn we want everyone to feel right at home with our products.
The reality though is that many of those in our community do not have the privilege of
living in adequate housing. Help us give back to our community by donating your used
furniture through the Give & Take program.



Founded in 1985, Habitat for Humanity Canada is a national, non-profit organization working towards a world where everyone has a decent and affordable place to call home. With the help of over 70,000 volunteers every year and 56 affiliate organizations from coast to coast, our mission is to mobilize volunteers and community partners in building affordable housing and promoting homeownership as a means to break the cycle of poverty in Canada and around the world. Habitat for Humanity Canada is a member of Habitat for Humanity International, which has built, rehabilitated, repaired or improved more than one million houses worldwide, providing better shelter for more than 6.8 million people.



The furniture from this program will be donated to the Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore program. ReStores provide salvages and accept donations of gently used household items. All proceeds go directly towards rebuilding homes around the area. The profit generated by ReStores are used to fund the local Habitat affiliate that operates the store. Charities, like any other organization, incur administrative fees, and ReStore profits help to cover these costs. As a result, the money raised by the affiliate by conventional means, such as through individual and corporate giving, can go directly towards local builds and providing more families in the community with safe, decent and affordable housing.
