Finally! After what felt like a decade of clouds and rain, this strange bright sphere appeared in the sky over the weekend and although it was short-lived, it was enough to get everyone out of their winter comas and onto their bikes and patios. Good thing, because all those slow, pale-looking people and colourless scenery were beginning to look a lot like an episode of The Walking Dead.
All it took was one nice weekend and I’m ready to get my spring entertaining on. Plans are being made and ideas are brewing, thanks in big part to Pinterest and the Urban Barn spring line-up. Here are a few of my faves:
I love the instant update you get by simply changing your table linens to fit the season. Perfectly bright and fresh for spring!
Gorgeous, colourful and long lasting, potted bulbs look oh-so-pretty scattered across a dining table in tin pots, jars or tea cups. Perfect even for those with the blackest of thumbs.
Define your dining space with gorgeous pops of colour. You can put your kids to work on making these awesome paper banners and tissue puffs or head over to Chinatown to pick up some colourful paper lanterns. These definitely go a long way in decorating for a party.
If I’m ever at an event with a candy bar you can pretty much guarantee that I’ll be hovering somewhere nearby, trying desperately (and failing) to practice self control. How can anyone resist a free-for-all candy buffet? You can easily create one to suit any event from a small dinner party to a large neighborhood barbecue. Please invite me.
Making delicious infused water is super easy and it looks fantastic! Simply add sliced lemon, lime or cucumber, load it with ice and VOILA! Tip: for more flavor, let it sit in the fridge for a few hours before serving.
Theme parties are probably my favorite to both host and attend which is why I love this Mad Hatter-inspired idea, perfect for a wedding or baby shower brunch. If your cabinets aren’t filled with fine china, hit up your friends, grandma or local thrift store – the more mismatched the better!
