All of us have room to reduce our environmental footprint.  At Urban Barn we believe we're making steps in the right direction. Here are just a few things we're doing:

• Recycling is fully encouraged throughout our office and stores.
• Packaging that comes with furniture is also brought back to our warehouses and recycled.
• We recently ran a contest to find our greenest employees, and we actively encourage suggestions from staff on ways we can become greener.
• We carry several collections made from reconditioned or plantation grown timber and we're constantly on the hunt for more eco-friendly product options.
• The frames of many of our sofas and upholstered items use wood sourced through suppliers; certified for environmentally sound practices. These certifications include the Forest Stewardship Council, CSA Sustainable Forest Management standard, ISO 14001 certified Environmental Management Systems.
• Most of our upholstered pieces already contain CFC free and Methylene Chloride free foams, and now, customers can opt to upgrade their upholstered sofas and chairs to incorporate even greener soy based bio-foams.
• The bags we use in our stores are made from a special degradable plastic, which breaks down over time. Watch out for more reusable bags coming soon!
