In honour of the host country Brazil, we’re featuring a recipe for their signature drink, the Caipirinha. This cocktail calls for cachaça, Brazil’s most popular spirit, made from sugar cane. This should be easy to find in your liquor store, but dark rum can be substituted (when rum is used this drink is called a “Caipirissima”). Enjoy!
- 1 lime
- sugar to taste
- 2 ounces cachaça
In a glass, squeeze half a lime. Add sugar (up to a teaspoon, depending on how sweet you like it) and mix up thoroughly with the lime juice. Add cachaça and mix. Finish with ice and lime wedges.
