While we’ve still got the last lazy days of the summer left to us, why not cool down with some healthy home-make popsicles? If you’ve got a freezer, blender, and the ability to peel and chop fruit, you officially have all the tools you need. With so much fruit currently in season, I stocked up at the grocery store, and got my freeze on!
None of these recipes really have any specific instructions because they’re all the same:

3. Freeze for 6-8 hours. Ta da!
Some handy tips: the toughest part is actually pulling your complete popsicles out – you should run your mould under hot water for a few seconds to get the popsicles to pop out cleanly. If you don’t have popsicle moulds available, you can use dixie cups or even ice cube trays – just let them freeze for a couple of hours before inserting your sticks, then leave them for the rest of the needed time. While I’ve thrown together the following recipes myself, I suggest you experiment with your favourite fruit / yogurt / ice cream combo!
Tart and refreshing, this is also really great as a slushie! Sub in vodka for about 1/2 c of the water, and you can make a great frozen cocktail for the patio.
- 1 can frozen lemonade concentrate
- 1 pint fresh strawberries (or 2 c frozen)
- 3 c water
I was inspired to try this by a salad I had at a baby shower recently, and it turned out to be my favourite! The amount of sugar you need will depend on how sweet your watermelon is – do a taste-test before freezing.
- 2 c cubed, seeded watermelon
- 1/4 c fresh mint, chopped
- sugar, to taste (I added about a tsp)
Peaches and Yogurt
I wanted a thick consistency, so used greek yogurt, and added extra chunks of peach into the blended mixture for kicks.
- 1 medium peach, peeled and sliced (approx 1 c)
- 1 c yogurt
- honey (about a three second squeeze or to taste)
